One month and so many new experiences later, I could not be more grateful for being a part of this. Who would have thought being 3000 miles away from everything, could feel so much as home?
On the first day of my arrival, I actually attended a wedding hosted in our backyard! It was so beautiful how everyone made me and my exchange sister feel so much at home, as if we had been there our entire lives. The power of being kind and hospitable was beyond what I had ever experienced before. In that exact moment I knew I would feel as if everything is going to be alright.
The things I have what you could call learned by now, is that wherever you go, how far it might seem, go out there and meet new people. Although it might seem hard at first, you need to push yourself and be part of the present. Do the things you have never done, say yes to everything.
I got to meet friends from all over the world, because my school is very internationally oriented. Who had ever thought I would have been able to say my friend group consists of so many nationalities? You not only get to know other cultures, but become aware of your own. The things you take for granted, are not so common anymore. And that is actually good, because it gives you the opportunity to discover new ways to do the same things. It changes your perception on this world and how it is so diverse. Your thoughts and beliefs get so influenced by the country and place you grew up in and stepping out of that comfort zone, makes you realize what your own views and opinions are on what really matters.
Lots of Canadian love
